Three Pattonville School District teachers earned their certification as a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT). Pattonville High School English language arts teacher Sarah Guilfoyle earned certification in English Language Arts/Adolescence And Young Adulthood and Pattonville Heights Middle School band teachers Abby Hall and Liz Pace achieved certification in Music/Early Adolescence Through Young Adulthood.
Each year, Pattonville School District provides the opportunity for students, staff and parents to honor employees who make a difference through the Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year recognition programs. The honorees of these programs exemplify what it means to be part of the Pattonville community. Nomination forms for the Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year awards are available on the Pattonville website at www.psdr3.org/nominate and throughout the district.
Thank you to the Pattonville Fire Protection District for its toy drive donation to assist our families in need.
On Monday morning, the Pattonville Early Childhood Center was visited not by Santa’s red sleigh, but by a bright red trailer filled with donated toys that the firefighters quickly unloaded into the school.
The Pattonville Fire Protection District hosts a “Breakfast with Santa” event every year and collects new and unwrapped children’s toys to distribute to families in the community.
Five students in PEGS - Program for Exceptionally Gifted Students and Rose Acres Elementary School fifth grader Samy Nekka held a book signing after they were named winners and finalists in the St. Louis Writers Guild Young Writers Contest and had their stories published in a collection.
PEGS fourth grader Levi Dukes received third place for his story. Students named as finalists were fourth graders Pearl Kreiger, Andrew Meyer-Tuter and John Quinn and fifth graders Donald McCullough and Nekka.
On Dec. 21, students signed copies of the book and read aloud their story that began with the opening line of "Along the river ..."
In-person classes and after-school activities are canceled tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 22, in the Pattonville School District due to impending weather conditions. All district and school offices will be closed. There will be no board candidate filing tomorrow. Filing will resume on Dec. 27, which is the last day for filing. For filing details, click here.
Tomorrow will be a virtual learning day for students. Students will take part in independent learning activities at home with online teacher support. Teacher’s hours of availability to support student learning will be shared on their student learning platform or via email. Finals scheduled for tomorrow at Pattonville High School are postponed and will be made up after winter break. High school students will receive an update from school administrators tomorrow.
Other school and district staff will work from home unless other arrangements are made with their supervisor. Day custodians and maintenance staff should report to work at their regular time or as instructed by their supervisor. Afternoon and evening custodial staff have the option of reporting to work in the morning. Please work with your supervisor regarding adjustments to your regularly scheduled hours.
As an awareness for family schedules, tomorrow’s virtual learning day will not need to be made up in the future. Winter break begins on Friday, Dec. 23 and students return on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
